The 2018 NFL Draft location was determined to take place in Dallas. AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas is going to be the host of next year’s draft. It’s the first time that the draft has taken place in Texas, just a year after it was in Philadelphia for the first time. Before that, the draft was in Chicago for a couple years, after its long-term stay in New York City.
The draft is one of the most important parts of the football calendar. It’s the day when the top college players learn where they’re going to spend what will be at least their first few years in the pro’s. Some will end up playing for the team that drafts them for their entire career!
Last year’s first overall pick by the Cleveland Browns was Myles Garrett. The craziest part of this was that Garrett actually grew up in Arlington, where AT&T Stadium is. Too bad his draft wasn’t this year, or he would have grown up right next to where he was drafted!
Jerry Jones has been building up to this moment for quite a while. The Cowboys are currently housed in the most expensive complex in all of sports, and they also have the biggest jumbotron. They say everything is bigger in Texas, right? With all of the hype surrounding the Cowboys, it’s a shame that they haven’t been to a Super Bowl since 1995.
One interesting thing to watch during next year’s draft is going to be the reception that Dallas-ites give to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. He’s responsible for the suspension of Ezekiel Elliott, a saga that is unfolding as we speak. It’s possible that the drama surrounding Elliott’s suspension won’t be fully resolved until next year, making the situation fresh for Cowboys fans. Chances are that they are going to boo the heck out of Roger Goodell.
Two of the early predictions for the 2018 NFL Draft are Darnold and Rosen. The 2 QB’s, out of USC and UCLA, are heading into a league that is hungry for good passers. The NFL isn’t short on speed or strength, but the Peyton Mannings and Tom Bradys of the world are getting old. It’s time for a new generation of elite QB’s to begin making their strides for greatness. These could easily be two of the first QB’s drafted next year in Arlington. It’s going to be exciting to see what happens!
I heard about the location of the draft through NFL Mobile. A lot of people use this app, as well as others, to learn about sports news. Be sure to check out my blog post about the apps you should download for Android.
